SOFRITO plays fresh, energetic music with Afro-Cuban roots—including Latin jazz, salsa, bembé, cha cha, and danzón.

Our shows combine original tunes, inventive arrangements of classics, and works by contemporary Latin composers.

Led by drummer/multi-percussionist Max Yoshimoto, Sofrito features Grammy-nominated pianist Daniel Filip, a distinctive flute/trombone horn section, and a complete Latin rhythm section.

Sofrito band members have played the Great American Music Hall, opened for Celia Cruz, and performed with Murray Low’s acclaimed Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble.

We take pride in the rich heritage of the music and diversity of our band members.
